Hours extended for hazardous waste drop-off

STAFF REPORT

Local governments sponsoring a drop-off for hazardous household wastes Sunday have extended the hours.

The drop off will take place on Jan. 18 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at the San Marcos city traffic yard, 630 E. Hopkins. The free drive-through collection for residents of San Marcos, Kyle and Hays County will enable them to dispose of cleaners, paints, solvents, pesticides and automotive fluids. Proof of residency is required.

For a more detailed list of substances that can be dropped off, consult this previous Newstreamz article. For additional information, call the City of San Marcos public services department at (512) 393-8036.

  1. Dropped off items this afternoon, not busy at all, hope it moves back to Saturdays, wish it was more often than just once every 3 months.

  2. I forgot about this!#@! Sunday before a holiday is an unexpected time to remember hazardous waste. I agree with Steve Harvey that a Saturday would make more sense. I am grateful that we have haz waste pick-up though, very grateful.
