Texas State regents approve academic center

Texas State University System (TSUS) regents approved the design of a $47.7 million undergraduate academic center Friday, moving ahead with the 130,000-square-foot facility at the university’s south gateway.

Student power, literally, at Texas State

Soon, students at Texas State will be able to generate electricity while they workout. The retrofitting of 30 elliptical machines at the Student Recreation Center (SRC) will give the equipment the capability of converting exercise into renewable energy, connecting it to the power grid.

PEC reduces power rates

Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) members will pay a reduced rate for electricity beginning with bills issued on or after Dec. 1. PEC provides electricity for all Hays County residents, except for those within the San Marcos city limits.

Easter flowers at the nature center

The San Marcos Nature Center will hold a gathering on March 24 to create Easter flower arrangements.

The event, scheduled from 6:15-8 p.m., costs $3 per person, ages 12 and up. Participants can either bring their own flowers, real or artificial, or purchase some at the event.
