Another collapse eliminates Bobcats

Another late-inning collapse took down the Texas State baseball team Saturday, ending a 41-17 season two games into the NCAA Tournament. The Bobcats lost to Army, 7-4, when Army scored five times in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Army next up for Bobcat baseball team

Army is Texas State’s Saturday opponent in the NCAA baseball tournament. The Knights lost their first-round game, 3-1, to tournament favorite Texas.



Club honors essay winners

SERTOMA-San Marcos recently sponsored two luncheons recognizing the winners of its annual elementary and secondary school essay contests. All participants receive hearing and speaking therapy through the San Marcos CISD (SMCISD).

Volunteers still sought for two city boards

The City of San Marcos is seeking volunteers to serve on the Minority Tourism Development Board and the Human Services Advisory Board.

Ninth inning kills ‘Cats in NCAA opener

Texas State just couldn’t fasten down those last three outs in the ninth inning Friday, enabling Boston College to score six runs for an 8-7 win in the first round of the NCAA baseball tournament in Austin. Texas State will play Army at noon Saturday in an elimination game.



Report of armed person causes lockdown at Texas State

The J.C. Kellam building was briefly locked down Friday afternoon after University Police received a report of an armed individual in the building. A search found no evidence of any armed person.



The Weekend: Baffled with one spear of grass

The last weekend before public school lets out features two performances by the Diamond Line dance team at San Marcos High School.
