Old Bastrop Highway (CR 266) will close for three months starting July 6, from the San Marcos River to Staples Road. The Hays County Road Department will reconstruct the road.
“The pavement is in really bad shape, especially near the approach to the San Marcos River, and needs to be completely rebuilt,” said Tim Vande Vorde, operations superintendent for the Hays County Roads Department. “We’ll be recycling the existing pavement, bringing in new base material as needed and repaving the surface to make the road smoother and safer.”
Signage will alert motorists to the closure on both ends. Only local traffic and emergency vehicles will be allowed access.
