Reconstruction underway for Charles Austin Drive

STAFF REPORT

San Marcos city crews began a reconstruction of Charles Austin Drive between Hopkins Street and Aquarena Springs Drive Monday. It is expected that the project will take four to six weeks to complete.

The street will be closed to through traffic, although traffic to City Park, the Lions Club tube rental and Strahan Coliseum will be allowed.

The city is advising residents to drive carefully, watch for heavy equipment and fresh oil, and drive slowly in the construction zone.

The project is part of the city’s annual minor reconstruction of about eight lane miles of streets. The city’s public works department maintains more than 290 total lane miles in San Marcos.
