I have read Carmack's book and it is invaluable to the Texas traveler who appreciates more than "cookie-cutter" accomodations. I have also heard her speak on several occcasions and she is a delight. I encourage anyone interested in traveling or in the history of Texas' fine old hotels to put this on their calendar.
