Well, when you only live a few blocks from work and still take that city vehicle home everyday, I call that an expense that could be cut. I can see police officers and firemen taking their vehicles home, but what kind of emergency could other city officials have that would merit a city vehicle parked in their driveway at all times! And six figure incomes... that's more than I thought these folks were making! This makes my observation even more valid. Our community needs more activities for our youth, our kids are being denied access to activities that other cities offer their youth, don't these officials feel at least one bit guilty that our city as big as it is now, cannot "afford" to build a recreation center, but continues to pay our officials at their current levels of pay?

Ms. Lila, I think you are correct about the Kyle City Manager's salary but be careful what you ask for. If you compare other City Manager's salary to his he too might get an increase. The City of Kyle, like all communities should be watching every dime.

I think Kyle Taxpayer may be wrong about Mr. Urbanowicz's salary, but our city manager does make six figures and always makes the Free Press' annual list of top paid officials (sorry to mention another news media outlet). But I think even he rides his bike to work - so I'm not aware of any abuse with regards to city vehicles. But there could be - don't know.

As to whether this is off subject - don't think so. Kyle is over $100 million in debt (when you count the interest - and I do believe we have to pay that as well). Every penny counts at this point. If our debt spending continues at the same speed as it has in the past, staff lay-offs could very well become a reality at some point in the future.

The stories I have read on this site have indicated that City of Kyle staff are underpaid. Salaries were evaluated just this year.

I like that City officials such as the police take vehicles home. I am sure they take better care of the vehicles as it is their work vehicle. I do not think anyone is using city vehicles as personal vehicles and visiting family in Dallas etc.

But then again, all these comments are off subject.

Mr. Urbanowicz makes a lot of money in his current position, I feel that the City of Kyle should reevaluate his and other city officials' salaries. This would free up money for projects that would benefit the community as a whole and not so much their own pockets. Another expense that can be cut is to stop allowing city vehicles to be treated as personal vehicles by our officials (ie: taking the vehicles to their homes).

Great idea! The City of San Marcos still owes the City of Kyle something for that ETJ transfer along Yarrington Road. Kyle never got anything out of the deal.
