Hands of Hope classes start in February

First Baptist Church, 325 West McCarty Lane, will begin another set of Hands of Hope classes starting on Feb. 1. The ten-week semester will have classes Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. The classes are free.
Hands of Hope (formerly Christian Women’s Job Corps) is an adult education program aimed at preparing disadvantaged women with academic skills and job readiness. Their classes include reading, writing, time management, health and nutrition, Bible study, computer and math education, communication, money management, life and job skills.
The classes are gauged to move students toward happy, successful lives as contributing members of society as they achieve confidence and self-sufficiency.
