Hays CISD student art is on display at the Curriculum and Instruction Annex until April 7. A silent auction and a reception are planned for March 30.

Masonic lodge bestows flags to San Marcos schools

San Marcos Masonic Lodge No. 342 bestowed flags to San Marcos CISD elementary schools in honor of Texas Independence Day and Texas Public Schools Week. The Masons established Texas Public Schools Week in 1950.



Goodnight Middle School celebrates Black History Month

At the end of Black History Month, San Marcos CISD’s Goodnight Middle School held a day-long celebration of events including music, art and poetry.



Reading program has well-known volunteers

The San Marcos CISD Child Development Center had some special guest readers recently who volunteered for the Reading Is Fundamental Community Leaders Reading Program. The kids, of course, loved the fire truck.



Fifth grader named student of the month

Hernandez Elementary School fifth grader Drake Driscoll is the San Marcos CISD Superintendent’s Student of the Month for March. Driscoll was nominated for the honor by Hernandez Principal Rosemary Garza.



Phoenix Academy winners awarded shoes

The reward for a recent Phoenix Academy volleyball tournament was a pair of Nike shoes thanks to a Back Your Block Nike Grant.



DeZavala and Bowie honored for achievments

Bowie and DeZavala Elementary Schools were recently honored by the San Marcos City Council for their achievements. Both schools were honored by the No Child Left Behind program, among their laurels.
