Library to present puppet shows

The San Marcos Public Library will present another of its popular puppet shows on March 23 and March 26. The shows will emanate from the tales of Uncle Remus.



Texas State Opera Theater to perform Candide

Leonard Berstein’s Candide will be performed by Texas State Opera Theater on March 26 and March 27. It is an operetta based on the famous work by Voltaire.



Musical review features the work of Bock and Harnick

The Department of Theatre and Dance at Texas State will perform “Beautiful, Beautiful World,” a musical revue that is part tribute to songwriters Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick and part original staging and presentation.



The Weekend: We’re in the chips, and the tunes

The weekend is filled with the sound of music, and the crack of the old bat, and the crunch of the old chip. And pie. Or pie. We’ve seen more loaded weekends around here, and they’ll be coming back in a hurry.



Peace Corps workers will lecture on Turkemenistan

A former San Marcos library worker and his wife have returned home after a two-year stint with the Peace Corps in Turkmenistan. They will give a talk on their experiences in that country at the San Marcos Public Library on March 16.



Orchesis to perform ‘Side Show’ at Texas State

Orchesis Dance Company at Texas State will perform an eclectic and intriguing mix of dances on March 19 and 20. The public is invited to attend.



Activities abound at library for spring break

The San Marcos Public Library has a host of free activities to keep the kids active and busy during spring break. Among the events are a concert, a juggling class, a puppet show and a story festival.

It seems that theater and musical performances are really kicking up lately, and that goes well with baseball season, which means spring is here. It’s a good time to awaken love of life in one’s heart. Smile.



Stelos concert features Stoney LaRue and Earl Moseley rally

The Stelos Alliance Scholarship Foundation will host a benefit concert for scholarships Thursday at Bobcat Stadium. Added to the program is a rally for the late Earl Moseley.
