Cobb readies to climb another hill San Marcos surgeon Bert Cobb took the lion’s share of the Republican primary vote against Kyle business owner Peggy Jones Tuesday to claim his nomination for Hays County judge. Surviving that Olympics, Cobb said he is preparing for another in November.

Barton cruises past Sumter for Democratic nomination After slightly more than three years of battling on the Hays County Commissioners Court, it came down to Tuesday’s vote between County Judge Liz Sumter and Precinct 2 Commissioner Jeff Barton for the Democratic county judge nomination. After Barton won, he said he had “a great conversation” with Sumter.
Patrick Rose took 79.7 percent of the vote against challenger Andrew Backus in Tuesday’s Democratic primary for his fifth straight nomination for his state representative seat.

Boling defeats Mendoza in court at law primary Hays County Court at Law No. 1 Judge Anna Martinez Boling held off a Democratic primary challenge Tuesday from Hays County Assistant District Attorney David Mendoza, taking 63.7 percent of the vote. Boling will face Republican Robert Updegrove in November.
