The San Marcos Downtown Association heard from San Marcos Mayor Susan Narvaiz Wednesday, in the wake of several complaints by association members over the city’s handling of the proposed Springtown Center redevelopment. The group also discussed the problem of downtown parking.

Downtown business owners, San Marcos City Councilmembers and, apparently, attorneys remain unsure about the notion of a “rolling quorum,” the threat of which kept two councilmembers from meeting last week with the Downtown Association.

The San Marcos Downtown Association held an emergency meeting Friday morning to discuss the implications of a pending series of interest-free long term loans equaling $5 million to developers seeking to turn Springtown Center into a multi-purpose entertainment complex.

A new day in San Marcos Friday was as sweet as any other, except for being a couple hours longer and, therefore, a couple hours sweeter.

The square in San Marcos will be swinging as the 17th Annual Texas Natural and Western Swing Festival rolls into town Saturday.
