Fashion show ga-ga for Gaga

A fashion show at George’s Lounge at the LBJ Student Center on the campus of Texas State will feature a coordinated effort of many student organizations as they focus on the style of Lady Gaga. The George’s Lounge crew even set up a catwalk, or “Bobcat walk,” if you prefer.



Local restaurants participate in Haiti relief

Eight San Marcos restaurants are participating Thursday night (Feb. 11) in Dine Out San Marcos, an initiative of the restaurants, Texas State’s student government and San Marcos Mayor Susan Narvaiz to provide relief funds for victims of the earthquake in Haiti.



Student power, literally, at Texas State

Soon, students at Texas State will be able to generate electricity while they workout. The retrofitting of 30 elliptical machines at the Student Recreation Center (SRC) will give the equipment the capability of converting exercise into renewable energy, connecting it to the power grid.



ASG aims for 5,000 registered voters

More than 5,000 voter registration cards are being distributed to campus organizations at Texas State in order to maintain the university’s ongoing political activism. Associated Student Government (ASG) hopes to register as many citizens as possible before the Oct. 5 deadline.



Candidates come and go at filing last call

The filing deadline for San Marcos city council candidacy came and went Wednesday, and so did some of the candidates. Switches, adds and drops characterized a tumultuous last call, which ended in two races each with at least three candidates, something of a rarity by the recent standard in San Marcos.
