San Marcos and Hays to renew football rivalry

A one-time staple of the Hays County athletic scene is coming back for a two-year engagement. The football teams from San Marcos and Hays High Schools will play each other this fall and during the fall of 2011, according to the coaches for both programs.



Rebels wrap up rare losing campaign

A rare, forgettable season of Hays Rebels is in the books with their 45-14 loss to Huntsville in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs Saturday. The Rebels finished 4-7, their first losing season since 1985.



Rebels roll, Lobos lose playoff bid

The Hays Rebels handled the Lehman Lobos, 27-7 Friday night in the regular season finale for both high school football teams. The Rebels go to the playoffs next Saturday against Huntsville, while Lehman missed its bid for the playoffs.

The Hays Rebels clinched a high school football playoff berth Friday night, while Lehman looked just about ready. Meanwhile, Wimberley lost a close game at Liberty Hill, Dripping Springs lost for the seventh straight time and the San Marcos Baptist Academy ended a three-game losing streak.



Hays would clinch playoff spot with win

The district football season is rolling along for the Hays Rebels, despite the difficulties they faced through the first five weeks. After losing their five non-district games to hit 0-5 for the first time since 1970, the Rebels would clinch a playoff spot Friday night with a win against Manor at Bob Shelton Stadium.



Hays tries for back-to-back wins

The Hays Rebels will try for their second win in a row Friday night at Lockhart. After starting the season with five straight losses, a win Friday would make Hays 2-0 in District 17-4A. Also Friday night, Dripping Springs will try to break a five-game losing streak against Lampasas, the San Marcos Baptist Academy will play Victoria St. Joseph, and Wimberley is taking a bye week.



Hays CISD teams start district from different directons

The two Hays CISD football teams each open their District 17-4A seasons Friday night, each coming from a different direction and each surprisingly situated. Lehman enters the district season 4-1 for the first time ever, while the Rebels are 0-5 for the first time since 1970.
