Rattler bands win accolades at jazz festival

The San Marcos High School Rattler jazz and salsa bands recently won honors at the Hill Country Jazz Festival hosted by Texas State. Some students then went on to compete at the District 18 University Interscholastic (UIL) solo and ensemble competition the same day at Hays High School, winning more awards.

San Marcos Mayor Susan Narvaiz recently honored 15 San Marcos High School students for their outstanding academic performances in the National Merit competition, the College Boards, and other academic achievements.


SMHS scholars recognized

The three National Merit semifinalists, two National Hispanic Scholars, and 14 senior AP Scholars were recognized by San Marcos CISD trustees this week. The students represent a lot of high SAT (Scholastic Aptitude/Assessment Test) and AP (Advanced Placement) test scores.
