Bobcats announce 2010 football schedule

Texas State’s 2010 football schedule includes six home games, including five within a span of seven weeks. The Bobcats will open at Houston and close at Sam Houston State, with their first home game on Sept. 11 against Southern Arkansas and their last coming on Nov. 6 against Central Arkansas.



Bobcats lose to UTA in men’s hoops

Texas State’s bid to move up in the Southland Conference men’s basketball standings took a blow Saturday, when Texas-Arlington beat them, 82-78, at Strahan Coliseum. The Bobcats are 4-3 in the Southland, tied for fourth place with their next opponent, Southeastern Louisiana.



Bobcat men beat Central Arkansas in squeaker

Cameron Johnson’s career-high 34 points and his first double-double of the season led the Texas State men’s basketball team to its first home Southland Conference win of the year Saturday at Strahan Coliseum, 76-74 over Central Arkansas. Johnson made 11 of 16 field goal attempts and 12 of 15 free throws. More dramatically, Johnson made a lay-up with 23 seconds left, breaking a 74-74 tie and giving the Bobcats their final margin of victory.



Bobcats women fall at Central Arkansas

For the second straight game, the Texas State women’s basketball team held the lead on the road for much of the assignment, but ultimately fell short. The Bobcats lost, 79-69, at Central Arkansas. The Bobcats fell to 0-3 in the Southland Conference and 4-10 overall. Central Arkansas is 1-2 and 11-5.



Bobcats lose to Corpus, end four-game win streak

Fighting to maintain a winning streak, the Texas State men’s basketball team faltered late in the first half and couldn’t catch up to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Tuesday night at Strahan Coliseum. The Bobcats dropped a 68-59 decision, falling to 1-1 in the Southland Conference and 7-9 overall.



Bobcat women lose league opener

A 66-61 loss to Texas-Arlington (UTA) Saturday afternoon at Strahan Coliseum started the Southland Conference season on the wrong foot as the Bobcats fell to 4-8 overall.



Bobcats buckets game moved to 1 p.m.

The Texas State men’s basketball scheduled for Saturday afternoon at Texas-Arlington (UTA) has been moved to 1 p.m. from 7 p.m. to avoid conflicts with the Dallas Cowboys’ first-round NFL playoff game against the Philadelphia Eagles at Cowboys Stadium.



Bobcats look to send off seniors with win

The Texas State football team no longer has a chance at the playoffs, but could conceivably finish in the three-way tie for the league championship. The Bobcats end their season Saturday at Bobcat Stadium against rival Sam Houston State.



Ten straight wins make Bobcats top volleyball seed

Winning for the tenth straight time with a three-game sweep at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last Saturday, the Texas State volleyball team vaulted to the top seed in this weekend’s Southland Conference Tournament with a 13-3 league record.



Bobcats return to football rankings

The Texas State football team has returned to the national rankings after two consecutive wins against ranked teams. The Sports Network and the Football Championship Series (FCS) coaches polls both put the Bobcats at No. 25 this week.
