Rebels trounce to first-round playoff win

Angeleigh Davis scored 22 points, Ashley Rankine added 18 the entire Hays team played its usual impassable defense Tuesday night as the Rebels cruised to a 49-28 win against Magnolia West Tuesday night in the first round of the girls high school basketball playoffs.



Rebels split district, lose coin flip

The Hays Rebels finished tied for the girls high school basketball championship in District 17-4A, but lost a coin flip with co-champ Del Valle and will go to College Station next Tuesday to begin the playoffs against Magnolia West. Lehman and San Marcos both finished short of the playoffs in that district.



Bobcats open track season Saturday at A&M

The Texas State men’s and women’s track and field teams open up the 2010 season Saturday at the Texas A&M Invitational in College Station. The afternoon session starts at 1 p.m. in the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium, with evening session track finals set to begin at 5 p.m.



Williams asks for vigilance at public meeting

San Marcos Police Chief Howard Williams tried to re-assure local residents about the city’s safety at a community meeting last Friday night, but he also asked that San Marcians tip off the cops about drug dealing.

Sucessful SMHS grads lecture on dyslexia to educators

Recently, two successful graduates of San Marcos High School educated their educators on the subject of dyslexia. The brother and sister team of Greg Davis (Class of 1993) and Nicole “Nikki” Davis (Class of 1994) presented five life lessons to San Marcos CISD educators based on their experiences with dyslexia.
