Philosophy dialogue to take up evolution, identity

Three Texas State philosophers will be joined by professors from six other university departments, along with academics from the University of Chicago and Hofstra University as Texas State’s Philosophy Dialogue Series takes up evolution and identity for the next two weeks.



Juilliard comes back to Texas State Thursday

The Juilliard School will once again perform at Texas State as part of the Common Experience Program. The Thursday event will showcase music and choreography and is free and open to the public.

Texas State presents “Arcadia”

Texas State’s Department of Theatre and Dance will perform Tom Stoppard’s 1993 Play “Arcadia” at the Theatre Center Main Stage for the rest of this week. The play touches on so many extraordinary subjects that it is a good fit with the Common Experience theme, the “Whole Mind.”



Adventurer Garriott to speak at business week

Richard Garriott, creator of the Ultima computer game series who later paid $30 million as a space tourist to the International Space Station aboard the Soyuz TMA-12, will give the keynote address for the 2010 Business Leadership Week Feb. 8-12 at Texas State.



‘Common Experience’ features faculty poetry reading

Texas State’s “Common Experience” program will hold a poetry reading entitled “My Mind Has a Mind of its Own,” on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Lampasas Hall Honors Coffee Forum.



Pink lectures moved due to weather

Author Daniel Pink’s free public lectures, originally slated for the LBJ Student Center Mall on Wednesday, have been relocated to Evans Auditorium due to expected inclement weather.



Noted journalist Brody to speak at library

Jane Brody, the Personal Health columnist for the New York Times and principal author of more than a dozen books, will speak at the San Marcos Public Library, 625 East Hopkins Street, on Sept. 22 at 7 p.m.



Trauth says state of Texas State is strong

Texas State University President Denise Trauth told university faculty and staff Tuesday that Texas State is growing in enrollment, prestige and facilities. The university expects to welcome a record number of students when classes start Wednesday.



Tournées International Film Festival coming to Texas State

The Tournées International Film Festival and Symposium will be held at Texas State from March 23 to April 3.
