Council tables compensation issues

On the eve of an election that could define a new voting majority on the city council, San Marcos City Councilmembers voted Monday to table two contentious items regarding compensation. Councilmembers tabled an employment agreement with the city’s police officers, then tabled a second and deciding vote on payment for themselves.



Police, fire fighters step up political presence

Amid their meet and confer negotiations to forge collectively bargained agreements with the city, San Marcos police and fire fighters have increasingly promoted their interests during this election season.



ACT creates neighbors

Texas State University and the City of San Marcos are co-sponsers of a community welcome taking place Thursday, from 6-8 p.m. in the Hills of Hays neighborhood located off Staples road. The program is part of the Achieving Community Together (ACT) campaign, which reaches towards good relations between long-term residents and students through education, community connectedness and resources.
