Windemere Ranch could go to habitat — or development

The owners of Windemere Ranch property say they’re going ahead with their plans for development, but Hays County could have designs on the land for its regional habitat conservation plan to protect the golden-cheeked warbler and the black-capped vireo.



Secrest honored by city

City of San Marcos Public Services Coordinator Jo Secrest was recognized by the city for her recent honors from the San Marcos River Foundation. The river foundation honored Secrest for coordinating hazardous waste collection in the city.



San Marcos council again approves more density

San Marcos City Councilmembers approved another zoning change to accommodate increased density last month, granting preliminary approval to a zoning change and a land use plan for the Retreat on Willow Creek, a proposed 101.40-acre mixed-use development just west of Hunter Road and south of Stagecoach Trail.



City employees start United Way campaign

City of San Marcos employees initiated their annual giving campaign to United Way of Hays County, represented by Michelle Harper, and Earth Share of Texas, represented by Dianne Wassenich.



Waste water project links to Windemere

Facing occasional instances of sewage flowing down San Marcos streets as some residents fume that a proposed wastewater line to fix the problem may encourage more houses over aquifer recharge land, the City of San Marcos is proceeding with the Sink Creek Interceptor Phase II project.



Feds resist shooting range on habitat

A federal agency is dubious about a Hays County proposal to place a shooting range on land earmarked for wildlife habitat conservation.
