Chargers honored by city council

The San Marcos Chargers were recently honored by the the San Marcos City Council for their winning seasons of soccer. The Chargers are a girls 12-and-under team that finished third in Texas in 2008 and 2009, competing out of the San Marcos Area Youth Soccer Organization.



SMBA series kicks off with stimulating lecture

Mayor proclaims CASA month

San Marcos Mayor Susan Narvaiz recently proclaimed March as “CASA Month” in the city. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is a volunteer organization advocating for abused and neglected chilldren who have become a part of the court system.

San Marcos Mayor Susan Narvaiz presented a special proclamation to Mayor Pro Tem Kim Porterfield in honor of her role in reviving Student Government Day at San Marcos High School.



Retiring police officer honored

San Marcos Mayor Susan Narvaiz recently honored Corporal Frank Calabrese on his retirement from the San Marcos Police Department (SMPD). In addition to being the first School Resource Officer at San Marcos High School, Calabrese is also a founder of the Christian Federation of Police Officers-Police Athletics League (CFPO-PAL), which serves thousands of local children.



Clerk’s office honored by mayor

San Marcos Mayor Susan Narvaiz recently honored the city clerk’s office for its five-star award from the Texas Department of Health Services.
