The term “Hispanic Heritage Month” is a bit misleading. It certainly is a month-long celebration, but the event spans the two months of September and October. The LBJ Museum of San Marcos has an exhibit which celebrates the month with fascinating history.

The four living former mayors of San Marcos gave a variety of opinions on the campaign spending of current San Marcos Mayor Susan Narvaiz (center), who reported $100,000 in expenditures for her 2008 campaign.

The Lyndon Baines Johnson Museum of San Marcos will host a fundraiser program, “60s Night at the Museum,” Aug. 7 as part of an effort to match a $25,000 grant.

History tells us that Councilmember Chris Jones is a swing vote on the San Marcos City Council, while Councilmember Fred Terry is new to that august body. History also suggests that Jones and Terry will have a lot to say about how the council decides divisive issues, starting with a re-zoning proposal that’s back on the agenda Tuesday night.
