The Democratic Party in Hays County will come to some kind of a reckoning Tuesday, the general election day in a primary that will choose between Hays County Judge Liz Sumter and Precinct 2 Commissioner Jeff Barton as the party nominee for county judge. Grifols construction to start this week

Grifols, which is locating a much-anticipated biomedical facility in San Marcos, will turn the first shovel Friday on a two-story, 72,000-square-foot plasma research and testing facility at River Ridge Business Park. The facility is expected to be completed in 2010.

It would seem the agents of economic development in San Marcos have something of a split personality. Are they the magicians who pulled biomed out of their hats by bringing in Grifols? Or are they the pushovers who almost fronted $5 million, interest free, for bars and restaurants? Grifols, Inc., which makes medicines derived from human plasma donations, officially announced with state and local officials Thursday that it will locate a testing and warehouse facilities in San Marcos.



Officials to announce manufacturer moving to San Marcos

Local officials will announce “an important job-producing manufacturing company that plans to locate in San Marcos” Thursday morning. Last week, San Marcos and Hays County officials approved economic incentives for Grifols, Inc., a biomedical company that would bring 190 jobs averaging more than $38,000 per salary to San Marcos.
