Mayor recognizes Hays-Caldwell Council Red Ribbon program

San Marcos Mayor Susan Narvaiz recognized the efforts of the Hays Caldwell Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse to promote Red Ribbon week, an event that teaches kids to avoid drug use.


Commissioners proclaim ‘Red Ribbon’ week

The Hays County Commissioners Court last week declared the week of Oct. 17-23 as Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon week is a celebration of the life of Enrique “Kiki” Camarena Salazar, the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) operative who was abducted and killed while investigating a major drug cartel in Mexico in 1985.
