Masonic lodge bestows flags to San Marcos schools

San Marcos Masonic Lodge No. 342 bestowed flags to San Marcos CISD elementary schools in honor of Texas Independence Day and Texas Public Schools Week. The Masons established Texas Public Schools Week in 1950.



Fifth grader named student of the month

Hernandez Elementary School fifth grader Drake Driscoll is the San Marcos CISD Superintendent’s Student of the Month for March. Driscoll was nominated for the honor by Hernandez Principal Rosemary Garza.

The San Marcos Education Foundation (SMEF) recently played “Math and Science” Santa to some grateful educators in San Marcos CISD.



Induction service for GC glows with pride

Some Hernandez Elementary School and Mendez Elementary students were inducted into the Gentlemen’s Club in November. The pride on their faces is one of the results of the program.



You are now entering the Dad’Zone

Hernandez Elementary School’s Dad’Zone is a program that allows fathers to volunteer in the school and spend extra time with their children during the day.



Majors receives “exemplary” t-shirt

Barbara Majors generally sports a welcoming smile on her face as she works in the front office at Hernandez Elementary school. Her smile, lately, may have something to do with the”Call to Excellence” exemplary service t-shirt she was awarded recently.



The backpack pack is back

Monday was a day for wearing new school clothes, meeting new teachers, riding the buses and eating PB&J’s from shiny new lunch boxes. It also stood to be a bit confusing for parents and students alike as schedules are rearranged and multi-tasking becomes a blur.



School is back

Back to School Nights at the various San Marcos CISD campuses are slated for next week.
