Johnson leads Bobcats rally past Lamar

Emerging Texas State men’s basketball star Cameron Johnson triggered a 15-0 rally with five points, two assists and a steal Saturday as the Bobcats continued their drive to the Southland Conference Tournament with an 81-67 win against Lamar at Strahan Coliseum.



Bobcats drop to seventh with close loss

Texas State couldn’t score in either of its last two times down the floor and lost, 63-60, at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in men’s basketball Wednesday night. The Bobcats dropped to 5-5 and seventh place in the Southland Conference. The Texas State women’s basketball team lost for the ninth time in ten league games Wednesday night at home against the Islanders.



Bobcats lose to UTA in men’s hoops

Texas State’s bid to move up in the Southland Conference men’s basketball standings took a blow Saturday, when Texas-Arlington beat them, 82-78, at Strahan Coliseum. The Bobcats are 4-3 in the Southland, tied for fourth place with their next opponent, Southeastern Louisiana.



Bobcats improve to 3-2 in Southland

Coming off years of dreary struggle, the Texas State men’s basketball team is showing signs of being equal to at least most of the Southland Conference. The Bobcats prevailed, 97-92 in overtime at Lamar Saturday, bringing their Southland Conference record to 3-2, good for a third-place tie with Stephen F. Austin.



Bobcat men beat Central Arkansas in squeaker

Cameron Johnson’s career-high 34 points and his first double-double of the season led the Texas State men’s basketball team to its first home Southland Conference win of the year Saturday at Strahan Coliseum, 76-74 over Central Arkansas. Johnson made 11 of 16 field goal attempts and 12 of 15 free throws. More dramatically, Johnson made a lay-up with 23 seconds left, breaking a 74-74 tie and giving the Bobcats their final margin of victory.



Bobcats cruise past Texas Lutheran

Texas State put the hammer down in the middle stretch of the first half Tuesday night, cruising to a 95-70 men’s basketball win against Texas Lutheran at Strahan Coliseum.

Cameron Johnson reached a career high with 24 points Saturday, leading Texas State to an 80-70 men’s basketball victory against Texas Pan American Saturday at Strahan Coliseum.



Second half surge takes Bobcats to win

Bobcats fall to TCU in triple-overtime

After 54 minutes of basketball, Texas Christian finally pulled away from Texas State in the 55th minute Tuesday night, escaping with a 108-99 victory in triple overtime in Fort Worth.



No consolation for Bobcat men’s hoops

The Texas State men’s basketball team went to Fort Worth for the consolation rounds of the NIT Tipoff, but there was little consolation after their 96-77 loss Monday night to Wisconsin-Milwaukee, which dropped the Bobcats to 1-4.
