Two San Marcos High School musicians were recently honored by San Marcos Mayor Susan Narvaiz and the city council. Katy Whitbeck and Dwaylan Applewhite are becoming pretty familiar names around town as they receive many well deserved honors.

San Marcos High School (SMHS) students Katy Whitbeck and Dwaylan Applewhite recently were selected to perform in the Texas All-State Choir. Whitbeck made second chair, while Applewhite made third chair. SMHS student Sam Heaton was named send alternate to the men’s All-State Choir.

The San Marcos High School Quartet has been asked to sing the National Anthem the American Hockey League match-up between the San Antonio Rampage and the Chicago Wolves.

Four San Marcos High School vocalists made it to the All-Area Choir. Next hurdle? The All-State competition at the start of the new year.

Five of the seven members of the San Marcos High School choir participating in the Texas All-State Choir Auditons will move on to the third round of the four-step audition procees. The auditions were recently conducted at Pflugerville High School.
