County passes corner to city in King observance

Hays County formally passed a corner at Lyndon Baines Johnson Drive and Martin Luther King Drive to the City of San Marcos Monday during Martin Luther King Day ceremonies. The corner will be the site of a monument remembering the two civil rights figures.



San Marcos schedules events for MLK Day

Martin Luther King Day will be recognized in San Marcos with a series of events starting at 11 a.m. Monday on the steps of the Hays County Courthouse. The morning courthouse program will feature proclamations by San Marcos Mayor Susan Narvaiz and Hays County Judge Liz Sumter.



LBJ Museum changes hours of operation

Starting Thursday, the Lyndon B. Johnson Museum of San Marcos is changing its hours of operation. The museum will now be open from 1-5 p.m. on Wednesday and from 10 a.m.-5 p.m on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.



Trauth says state of Texas State is strong

Texas State University President Denise Trauth told university faculty and staff Tuesday that Texas State is growing in enrollment, prestige and facilities. The university expects to welcome a record number of students when classes start Wednesday.



LBJ museum to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month

The Lyndon Baines Johnson (LBJ) Museum of San Marcos, 131 Guadalupe Street, is celebrating National Hispanic Heritage month with a reception at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 16.



LBJ Museum to hold ’60s Night’ fundraiser

The Lyndon Baines Johnson Museum of San Marcos will host a fundraiser program, “60s Night at the Museum,” Aug. 7 as part of an effort to match a $25,000 grant.



C-SPAN to air LBJ Lecture

CSPAN-3 will air Texas State’s 2009 LBJ Distinguished Lecture on June 7, at 10 a.m. The lecture features Lynda Johnson Robb and Luci Baines Johnson, the daughters of Texas State alum and former U.S. President Lyndon Johnson.
