Bobcats trounce Penn State in baseball

Bashing out 41 hits in three games, the Texas State baseball team swept its series against Penn State at Bobcat Field during the weekend, improving to 8-6 for the season. The Bobcats have raised their team batting average 60 points to .281 in the last ten days.



Bobcats win softball rubber game at McNeese

The Texas State softball team scored a run in the ninth for a 5-4 win Sunday at McNeese State, giving the Bobcats two wins in the three-game series. The Bobcats are tied with Stephen F. Austin in first place in the Southland Conference.



Bobcats announce 2010 football schedule

Texas State’s 2010 football schedule includes six home games, including five within a span of seven weeks. The Bobcats will open at Houston and close at Sam Houston State, with their first home game on Sept. 11 against Southern Arkansas and their last coming on Nov. 6 against Central Arkansas.



Texas State men win hoop tourney entry

J.B. Conley scored 42 points off the bench Saturday for the Texas State men’s basketball team, which clinched a berth in the Southland Conference Tournament with an 89-75 win at Northwestern State. The Texas State women’s team is out of the hunt, but notched a 76-57 win against Northwestern State at Strahan Coliseum.



Texas State drops hoops heartbreaker at Nicholls

The Texas State men’s basketball team remains in playoff position, though a little closer to the bubble after a last-minute, 66-63 loss Saturday at Nicholls State. The Bobcats have four games left in the regular season, the next one coming Wednesday against Stephen F. Austin at Strahan Coliseum.



Bobcats claim second Southland win

In a battle of Southland Conference women’s basketball cellar dwellars, Texas State prevailed Thursday night over Nicholls State at Strahan Coliseum. The Bobcats now are 6-17 overall and 2-10 in the conference



Bobcats running out of time in women’s hoops

The Texas State women’s basketball is 1-10 in the Southland Conference after an 85-71 loss Saturday at Lamar. With five games remaining in their season, the Bobcats have to make up more than three games to enter the league tournament.



Bobcats lose to UTA in men’s hoops

Texas State’s bid to move up in the Southland Conference men’s basketball standings took a blow Saturday, when Texas-Arlington beat them, 82-78, at Strahan Coliseum. The Bobcats are 4-3 in the Southland, tied for fourth place with their next opponent, Southeastern Louisiana.



Bobcat men beat Central Arkansas in squeaker

Cameron Johnson’s career-high 34 points and his first double-double of the season led the Texas State men’s basketball team to its first home Southland Conference win of the year Saturday at Strahan Coliseum, 76-74 over Central Arkansas. Johnson made 11 of 16 field goal attempts and 12 of 15 free throws. More dramatically, Johnson made a lay-up with 23 seconds left, breaking a 74-74 tie and giving the Bobcats their final margin of victory.



Bobcats go to league volleyball finals

The Texas State volleyball team will play in the Southland Conference Tournament championship game Sunday after a 3-1 semifinal win against Lamar Saturday at Texas-San Antonio (UTSA).
