Undrafted Brundridge signs with Seattle

Undrafted pitcher Tyler Brundridge beat his four drafted Texas State teammates to a pro contract, signing with the Seattle Mariners. Brundridge has reported the the Mariners’ team in the Rookie-level Arizona League.



Two Bobcats make another All-American team

Texas State, which had never before placed a baseball player on an All-American team, hit for the third time this year when Paul Goldschmidt and Kane Holbrooks were selected by the American Baseball Coaches Association.



Four Bobcats go in baseball draft

Home run hitting first baseman Paul Goldschmidt and catcher Ben Theriot are the only two Texas State underclassmen selected so far in Major League Baseball’s first-year player draft. Seniors Kane Holbrooks and Lance Loftin also have been selected through two days of the draft.



Another collapse eliminates Bobcats

Another late-inning collapse took down the Texas State baseball team Saturday, ending a 41-17 season two games into the NCAA Tournament. The Bobcats lost to Army, 7-4, when Army scored five times in the bottom of the eighth inning.



Ninth inning kills ‘Cats in NCAA opener

Texas State just couldn’t fasten down those last three outs in the ninth inning Friday, enabling Boston College to score six runs for an 8-7 win in the first round of the NCAA baseball tournament in Austin. Texas State will play Army at noon Saturday in an elimination game.



Bobcats place two All-Americans

Texas State will open the NCAA baseball tournament today with two freshly minted All-Americans. Collegiate Baseball named pitching ace Kane Holbrooks to its second team and slugging first baseman Paul Goldschmidt to the third team. The Bobcats will start the tournament Friday at 1 p.m. against Boston College at Disch-Falk Field on the University of Texas campus.



Bobcats advance to title game

Texas State demolished another foe on the baseball diamond at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi Friday night, drubbing Lamar, 13-2, and advancing to Saturday night’s championship game of the Southland Conference Tournament.



Bobcats advance with late-night win

Texas State’s baseball team started late Thursday, then scored often in a 10-1 win against Lamar to advance in the Southland Conference Tournament with a 2-0 record. The Bobcats set their single-season record with 40 wins and now stand two wins away from going to the NCAA Tournament.



Bobcats take tournament opener

Texas State set its single-season run scoring record Wednesday in an easy 9-2 win against Stephen F. Austin to open the Southland Conference baseball tournament.



Bobcats clean up league baseball honors

Led by Paul Goldschmidt’s honors as Player of the Year and Hitter of the Year, the Texas State baseball team captured almost all the individual awards bestowed this week by the Southland Conference.
