Local organizers of a new petition drive to place San Marcos CISD into the Austin Community College (ACC) District say lingering anger over a 2006 ACC initiative is among their biggest challenges.

San Marcos’ economic development office, along with other local jurisdictions and stakeholders, is working on an economic development plan that would target health care, corporate and professional operations and supply chain management.

The Fulbright Program, the U.S. Department of State’s grant and scholarship initiative, recently announced the complete list of colleges that produced the most 2009-2010 Fulbright Fellows and listed Texas State among them.

After passing Texas Tech and Texas-San Antonio last year to become the fifth-largest university in Texas last year, Texas State has again set its enrollment record this fall, passing 30,000 students.

Texas State is bringing in Stephen B. Seidman from Central Arkansas University to serve as the new Dean of the College of Science.
