Board to bring back microchip question

An animal services advisory board in San Marcos will hold a hearing next week to consider mandating microchip pet registration in limited cases. The city council agreed to make microchipping voluntary in March, after citizens protested an animal control ordinance that made such registration mandatory.

In a lengthy session Tuesday night, the San Marcos City Council called for voluntary microchip pet registration, approved a zoning change it had previously declined, and passed the first reading of a party noise ordinance.
