School district ponders high school academies

San Marcos CISD Trustees are considering whether to include career academies, specialized fields of study, within San Marcos High School. The board is aiming for a decision in February.



San Marcos CISD receives TEA recognition

San Marcos CISD (SMCISD) was given a total of fifteen Gold Performance Acknowledgements (GPAs) in the updated state accountablility reports, released on Nov. 4 by the Texas Education Agency (TEA.) The district received 12 GPAs in 2008 and six in 2007.



Pathfinder and PRIDE rise as Phoenix

The San Marcos CISD Board of Trustees approved a plan on Aug. 12 to combine two alternative high school programs, PRIDE High School and the Pathfinder Learning Center, into the Phoenix Learning Center. The merger is a response to the new state requirement that high school students graduate within four years or the district will be penalized. The Phoenix Learning Center will be considered part of San Marcos High School (SMHS).



PRIDE High School graduates 32 students

San Marcos CISD PRIDE High School graduated 32 students on June 3 in a ceremony held in the San Marcos High School auditorium.



PRIDE High School holds spring commencement

San Marcos CISD’s PRIDE High School graduated 22 students this spring, with three students receiving $1,000 scholarships for graduating early.



PRIDE High School graduates six

PRIDE High School in the San Marcos CISD graduated six students on Feb. 20.
