Bobcats beg for batting as league season starts

Texas State’s baseball team is hitting only .221 as it begins the Southland Conference season this weekend at Bobcat Field against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. However, Texas State pitchers have allowed only a .250 batting average against them. The three-game Corpus series begins Friday night and runs through Sunday.



Bobcats fall to A&M in baseball

Four innings of shutout relief by Texas A&M’s Michael Wacha sent the Texas State baseball team to a 6-2 loss Sunday at the QTI Baylor Classic in Waco. The Bobcats, 3-3, will play their home opener against Rice Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

Weather wipes out sports schedule

Poor weather postponed a number of games Tuesday night, including the Texas State baseball game at Rice. Also, the boys basketball team at San Marcos High School and the girls basketball team at Hays High School had their Tuesday night playoff games postponed to Wednesday night.

Texas State’s baseball team looks like it could be going places again this year. The Bobcats opened their season with a three-game sweep at Houston during the weekend. They will play at Rice on Tuesday.



Bobcats win baseball opener, 6-0, at Houston

Texas State made the most of its few hits by capitalizing on Houston mistakes Friday, opening its baseball season with a 6-0 win at Houston. Kyle Livingston homered for Texas State, while Michael Russo and Carson Smith combined for a six-hit shutout.



Texas State signs Wright to three-year extension

Texas State announced Tuesday morning that it has signed head football coach Brad Wright to a three-year contract extension. The university also extended the contracts of four other coaches.



Bobcats announce baseball schedule
