Rattlers open district with huge road win

The San Marcos High School baseball team notched a big win Wednesday, opening the District 17-4A season with a 3-2 win at Hays. The Rattlers will play Lockhart at home Friday night.



Rebels wrap up rare losing campaign

A rare, forgettable season of Hays Rebels is in the books with their 45-14 loss to Huntsville in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs Saturday. The Rebels finished 4-7, their first losing season since 1985.

The district football season is rolling along for the Hays Rebels, despite the difficulties they faced through the first five weeks. After losing their five non-district games to hit 0-5 for the first time since 1970, the Rebels would clinch a playoff spot Friday night with a win against Manor at Bob Shelton Stadium.

San Marcos came within one two-point conversion of pulling off an improbable win Friday night at Alamo Heights. Also, Hays improved to 2-0 in District 17-4A, while Dripping Springs and San Marcos Baptist Academy ran their losing streaks to six and three games, respectively.



Hays CISD teams start district from different directons

The two Hays CISD football teams each open their District 17-4A seasons Friday night, each coming from a different direction and each surprisingly situated. Lehman enters the district season 4-1 for the first time ever, while the Rebels are 0-5 for the first time since 1970.



Rebels fall for fifth straight time, 28-14 at Lamar Consolidated

In a highly unusual twist, the Hays Rebels lost their fifth straight game Saturday, falling, 28-14, at Lamar Consolidated. The Rebels will try to right themselves for the District 17-4A season, which begins on Oct. 9 with a home game against Elgin.



Rebels start a rare 0-4

One would have to go back many pages in record book time to find the last time the Hays Rebels started a high school football season at 0-4. But a 40-35 loss to McCallum at House Park Friday night put the Rebels in exactly that position.
