Narvaiz to hold Saturday Springtown session

San Marcos Mayor Susan Narvaiz will hold a forum with San Marcos residents Saturday to discuss the redevelopment of Springtown Mall and a city incentive proposal to “grant” $2.5 million for Alamo Drafthouse to move into town.



Armed Forces center going up in San Marcos

Houston-based construction firm Satterfield & Pontikes has begun building a United States military complex on 19 acres on the south side of Clovis Barker Road in San Marcos, less than a mile from Interstate-35. The San Marcos Armed Forces Reserve Center (AFRC), one of 17 planned for Texas, will be a 600-member training facility for two United States Army Reserve units and four Texas National Guard units.



City to launch prescription drug program

San Marcos officials will announce a new program Thursday enabling all city residents to reduce the cost of all prescription drugs by 20 percent.

Hazardous waste disposal this weekend

This weekend marks another hazardous waste disposal day for Hays County residents. In addition to the “drive though” hazardous waste collection at San Marcos City Hall, 630 East Hopkins Street, the Hays County Precinct 4 Recycling Center at 20290 FM 150 will take unwanted tires.



Council gives first nod to compensation

The San Marcos City Council approved the first of two readings for council compensation Tuesday night in a 4-3 vote. Under the measure, councilmembers would receive $500 per month and the mayor would receive $750 per month.



It’s Amnesty Week before October warrant round-up

In October, the San Marcos Police and the City Marshall’s Office will conduct the kind of round-up most citizens would want to avoid. The warrant round-up targets people with outstanding warrants for traffic violations, city ordinance violations and other misdemeanor charges filed at San Marcos Municipal Court.
