Bashing out 41 hits in three games, the Texas State baseball team swept its series against Penn State at Bobcat Field during the weekend, improving to 8-6 for the season. The Bobcats have raised their team batting average 60 points to .281 in the last ten days.



Bobcats win softball rubber game at McNeese

The Texas State softball team scored a run in the ninth for a 5-4 win Sunday at McNeese State, giving the Bobcats two wins in the three-game series. The Bobcats are tied with Stephen F. Austin in first place in the Southland Conference.



Bobcats announce 2010 football schedule

Texas State’s 2010 football schedule includes six home games, including five within a span of seven weeks. The Bobcats will open at Houston and close at Sam Houston State, with their first home game on Sept. 11 against Southern Arkansas and their last coming on Nov. 6 against Central Arkansas.



Texas State teams finish sixth, eighth at league track meet

The Texas State women’s track and field team finished sixth during the weekend in the Southland Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships in Norman, OK. The Texas State men’s team finished eighth in the same meet.

Emerging Texas State men’s basketball star Cameron Johnson triggered a 15-0 rally with five points, two assists and a steal Saturday as the Bobcats continued their drive to the Southland Conference Tournament with an 81-67 win against Lamar at Strahan Coliseum.



Bobcats lose to UTA in men’s hoops

Texas State’s bid to move up in the Southland Conference men’s basketball standings took a blow Saturday, when Texas-Arlington beat them, 82-78, at Strahan Coliseum. The Bobcats are 4-3 in the Southland, tied for fourth place with their next opponent, Southeastern Louisiana.



Bobcats improve to 3-2 in Southland

Coming off years of dreary struggle, the Texas State men’s basketball team is showing signs of being equal to at least most of the Southland Conference. The Bobcats prevailed, 97-92 in overtime at Lamar Saturday, bringing their Southland Conference record to 3-2, good for a third-place tie with Stephen F. Austin.



George named league student-athlete of year

Texas State quarterback Bradley George was named the Capital One Bank/Southland Conference Football Student-Athlete of the Year, the league office announced Monday in conjunction with the release of the All-Academic Football Team.
