Bobcats improve to 3-2 in Southland

Coming off years of dreary struggle, the Texas State men’s basketball team is showing signs of being equal to at least most of the Southland Conference. The Bobcats prevailed, 97-92 in overtime at Lamar Saturday, bringing their Southland Conference record to 3-2, good for a third-place tie with Stephen F. Austin.



Bobcat women still looking for first league win

The Texas State women’s basketball team still is looking for its first win in the Southland Conference after an 82-59 loss to Lamar Saturday afternoon at Strahan Coliseum.



Bobcat men beat Central Arkansas in squeaker

Cameron Johnson’s career-high 34 points and his first double-double of the season led the Texas State men’s basketball team to its first home Southland Conference win of the year Saturday at Strahan Coliseum, 76-74 over Central Arkansas. Johnson made 11 of 16 field goal attempts and 12 of 15 free throws. More dramatically, Johnson made a lay-up with 23 seconds left, breaking a 74-74 tie and giving the Bobcats their final margin of victory.



Bobcat volleyball going to NCAA tourney

Junior outside hitter Mo Middleton led the way for the Texas State volleyball team, which clinched a berth in the NCAA Tournament by winning the Southland Conference Tournament during the weekend at Texas-San Antonio (UTSA).

The Texas State volleyball team will play in the Southland Conference Tournament championship game Sunday after a 3-1 semifinal win against Lamar Saturday at Texas-San Antonio (UTSA).

Ten straight wins make Bobcats top volleyball seed

Winning for the tenth straight time with a three-game sweep at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last Saturday, the Texas State volleyball team vaulted to the top seed in this weekend’s Southland Conference Tournament with a 13-3 league record.



Bobcat netters, 1-6, go to Baylor

The Texas State volleyball team is off to a rocky start, losing six of its first seven matches, mostly against major conference competition. The opponent won’t be any easier Monday night, when the Bobcats travel to Waco to play Baylor (7 p.m.).
