Veteran’s Day celebration includes screening of two films

The screening of two documentary films about the war in Vietnam will precede the Veteran’s Day celebration in San Marcos. The city will have its annual parade and biscuits and gravy breakfast on Nov. 7

City says water supply good until 2070

City officials believe San Marcos has secured water supplies to last until 2070 after reports from the city’s efficiency task force and McLain Decision Support System on water and wastewater utilities.



Texas State hosts Cyber Security Awareness Day

The Department of Information Technology at Texas State will hold its 5th annual Cyber Security Awareness Day Wednesday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., in the LBJ Student Center Ballroom. The day promotes security awareness and safe computing practices, featuring a variety of vendors and speakers.

The Office of University Marketing at Texas State is sponsoring the Bobcat Tube Video Contest as a part of the launch for the Texas State homepage on YouTube.



ACTiVATE to activate at Texas State

The cutting edge program for women’s entrepreneurship in science and technology, Achieving the Commercialization of Technology Ventures through Applied Training for Entrepreneurs (ACTiVATE), will be started at Texas State in October.



Texas State welcomes veterans

Faculty and staff volunteers wrapped yellow ribbons around lamp posts, signs, benches and even the huge marble pillars of the Alkek Library to welcome military veterans to a new semester at Texas State.

Texas State says ni hao to Mandarin

This fall, Texas State students will be able to take Mandarin Chinese for academic credit as the Department of Languages unveils its newest course listings. The classes are made possible by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education to Texas State’s Center for International Studies. The grant is in support of courses with an emphasis on Southeast Asia and China.



Blatchley named board of regents chairman

Ron Blatchley of College Station has been named as the new chairman of the Texas State University System Board of Regents.
