Leonard Berstein’s Candide will be performed by Texas State Opera Theater on March 26 and March 27. It is an operetta based on the famous work by Voltaire.

CAP works at library to aid college hopefuls of all ages

The San Marcos Public Library, 625 East Hopkins, in conjunction with the College Access Project (CAP) and Texas State University is offering help to high school students and other college hopefuls with pre-college information. Representatives from CAP will be at the library as a free walk-in service on Wednesdays from 3-6 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. and Sundays from 1-5 p.m.



Annual Trade Up event benefits community and students

In the Texas State Quad Wednesday, the Student Chapter of the Alumni Association will hold its annual Trade Up event with a charitable twist as it combines the day with the Bobcats Back the Youth program.

The Center for Texas Music History (CTMH) at Texas State and the PSH (Patti Strickel Harrison) Foundation of Wimberley will sponsor a tribute concert honoring the birthday and career of music promoter Rod Kennedy at the Paramount Theater in Austin on Feb. 2 from 7-10 p.m.



Texas State composer’s music selected for CD project

The Millennium Project recently selected a composition by Texas State music theory faculty member Dimitar Ninov for inclusion it its Made in the Americas CD series.



HCSO crisis team places second

The Hays County Crisis Negotiations teams recently placed second in the Annual Crisis Negotiations competition. The event was sponsored by Texas State University, Hays County Sheriff’s Office, and the San Marcos Police Department.
