County budgets more HTGCD funding

Following a contorted process in which a local groundwater district couldn’t agree with local state legislators on a funding bill, Hays County Commissioners appear ready to increase the district’s funding from the county.



County passes controversial development regs

After months of dispute, Hays County Commissioners passed new development regulations Tuesday. A six-acre minimum lot size for new subdivisions served by individual private water wells and located in the Hill Country Priority Groundwater Management Area (PGMA) was too small for water conservation advocates and too large for private property rights advocates.



Aquifer district declares moratorium

The Barton Spring/Edwards Aquifer Conservation District has declared a moratorium on withdrawing additional freshwater from the aquifer within its jurisdiction.
