Principals receive Major Saver checks from SMEF

San Marcos CISD elementary school principals were smiling at the “Major Saver” checks they received from the San Marcos Education Foundation.



Travis fourth grader named SMCISD Student of Month

San Marcos CISD Superintendent Patty Shafer recently visited Travis Elementary School to chat with fourth grader Will Hutchinson, the San Marcos CISD Student of the Month. Hutchinson was nominated by Travis Principal Niki Konecki for “his academic success and his positive attitude.”



‘Longhorns Day’ celebrated at Travis

The students and staff of Travis Elementary School celebrated “Longhorn Day” on Jan. 7 before the BCS football championship involving the University of Texas and Alabama’s Crimson Tide. Although the Tide won the game, it did little to dampen the “college ready” atmosphere on the campus, and may have inspired a few students to dream of staging a rematch in their future.



Travis and Crockett Elementary students tackle hunger

American Heart Association thanks SMCISD coaches

San Marcos CISD elementary school coaches were recently recognized by the American Heart Association for their fundraising efforts. The schools have raised $306,000 in the past 20 years for heart research.



SMCISD sets shot clinics for seventh graders

San Marcos CISD is putting on two shot clinics in the next to months to help incoming seventh graders receive the new innoculations required by state law.
