Commissioners ask EPA for looser air standard

Concerned that Hays County is likely to loose its attainment status under the federal Clean Air Act, Hays County commissioners are asking the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to approve a standard by which the county wouldn’t be penalized for air pollution in Austin.



Dripping Springs man gets 22 years for meth

Charles Leslie Gault will serve 22 years for making methamphetamine after law enforcement noticed a foul chemical smell emanating from a pop-up trailer in Dripping Springs. He went on the run for two years before he was caught in Williamson County.

TexHealth announces small business health care program

TexHealth Central Texas, a community-based nonprofit organization is introducing its employee health benefits program with the first small business to employ it. The official launch will be Thursday at 10 a.m at Myers Concrete, 2301 FM 3237 in Wimberley.



County holds steady on sales taxes

Sales tax allocations among Hays County cities remain roughly even from a year ago after a slight rally in June.



County joins small business health plan

The Hays County Commissioners Court voted this week to join Williamson County and the Travis County Healthcare District in providing start-up funding for a three-county program that would help small businesses offer their employees affordable health care.
